Celebrating Our Partnership with the YMCA Dublin: Making a Difference Together

At Capital Credit Union, we firmly believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting initiatives that create real, tangible benefits. We are delighted to share the wonderful news of our recent sponsorship of the YMCA on Aungier Street, Dublin. The YMCA’s unwavering commitment to nurturing and empowering young people through their PlusOne Youth Mentoring Service is truly inspiring, and we are proud to play a part in their incredible work.

PlusOne Youth Mentoring Service: A Vital Resource

The PlusOne Youth Mentoring Service is an invaluable resource aimed at supporting at-risk young people aged 10-17. This programme offers one-year, one-to-one, and group mentoring sessions designed to provide targeted support to help these youths navigate their challenges and realise their full potential. By collaborating with local schools and services, the YMCA ensures each young person receives the specialised support they need, delivered by mentors who undergo extensive training to provide the best guidance and encouragement possible.

The Impact of Our Sponsorship

Our recent sponsorship of €2,000 for the Community Council Sponsorship 2024 will fund a full year of transformative one-to-one mentoring for four at-risk young people in the PlusOne programme. This generous donation will guide these young individuals through a crucial year of support and personal growth, equipping them with the tools they need to build a brighter future.

Remarkable Programme Outcomes

The PlusOne programme has demonstrated remarkable success in various areas, highlighting the significant impact of the YMCA’s efforts:

  • School Attendance and Engagement: An impressive 91% of participants have improved or maintained good school attendance, and 86% have increased their engagement within the community.
  • Home Life and Relationships: 77% of participants reported an improvement in their home life, and 86% saw positive changes in their relationships at school.
  • Mental Health and Coping: 82% of participants developed better coping mechanisms for managing their mental health, and an outstanding 95% finished the programme with improved or stable mental health.
  • Safe Environment and Skill Building: The programme provides a safe space that fosters self-awareness, confidence, communication skills, and positive community engagement.

We are excited to support the YMCA and their PlusOne Youth Mentoring Service. Their dedication to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for young people in Dublin is truly inspiring. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community.

Join us in celebrating the YMCA’s incredible work and the positive impact it is making in the lives of young people! We are proud to stand alongside them as they continue to foster growth, resilience, and hope within our community.
