Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna (GCL) is one of the recipients of Capital Credit Unions Community Development Fund. You can watch the full testimonial video here.
The school has used the fund to build a sensory room for its children. Capital Credit Union is delighted to be able to contribute to our local community in a way that will help local children get through the school day.
Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna
GSCL ensures that its students are exposed to other non-curriculum activities such as library talks, nature walks, and after school clubs. Due to their efforts, the school has received several flags such as the Green Flag and a Pieta House Amber flag.
Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna has recently moved into a brand-new premises on the Old Knocklyon Road, Dublin 16, and now reside in a three-story building. They had a spare empty room which they wished to turn into a sensory room with the help of the Community Development Fund.
GSCL has always made sure that their children feel safe and comfortable in their school, now they have taken it a step further and created a safe space for their children to gather themselves and be ready to take on the school day confidently and at ease.
The Sensory Room
The sensory room “An Seomra Suaimhneach” is a quiet, calm place where the children can retreat and receive support to help them cope.
The room has benefitted not only the students, but also the teachers who have commented that the children return to class calmer and more regulated after visiting “An Seomra Suaimhneach”. A sensory pod, climbing wall, lava lamps, weighted blankets, black-out blinds and more have been installed into the room for kids to use.
