The fraudulent SMS states:

“Credit union: A new payee Peter Brady IE********26818 AIBKIE2DXXX was created online. Please contact us on (01) 578 5614 if you did not create this payee.”

Please note: This is a scam designed to trick you into calling a fraudster who will attempt to obtain your online banking credentials, PIN, or One-Time Passcodes (OTPs).

🧐 Key Red Flags to Watch For

• Specific Payee Details: It uses a name like “Peter Brady” to trigger immediate concern.

• Unauthorised Numbers: The number (01) 578 5614 is not an official Capital Credit Union phone number.

• Generic Sender ID: The message often comes from “Credit Union” rather than “Capital CU”.

🚫 How to Protect Your Account

• Do not call the number provided in this or any unsolicited text message.

• Never share your full PIN, login details, or OTPs. Capital Credit Union will never ask you for this information.

• Verify directly: If you are ever unsure, hang up and call us using our official number: 01 299 0400.

If you have interacted with this message or shared any personal details, please contact Capital Credit Union immediately on 01 299 0400 so we can implement fraud prevention controls. We also encourage you to report the incident to An Garda Síochána.
